New Patients

Everything you need for your first visit: photo ID, what to bring, how our fees work, booking the right appointment, and parking.

We want your first visit to The Village to be a happy one, and the start of a long relationship. Here is what you need to know before you come in.

Bring photo ID

All new patients must bring photo ID to their first appointment. We are sorry, but the appointment can’t go ahead without it.

What to bring

  • Photo ID
  • Your Medicare card, and any concession or DVA cards
  • Previous medical records or specialist letters, if you have them
  • A list of your current medicines, including vitamins and supplements

Booking your appointment

You can book online using the Book Now button on our website, through HotDoc, or by calling us on (08) 6285 0999 during our opening hours. Not every doctor is taking new patients at any one time; HotDoc shows who is.

Appointments run for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on your GP, or in multiples of that time. If you have several things to talk about, please book a longer appointment.

Nurse appointments for procedures

All immunisations, surgical procedures and dressings must be booked with a nurse. To avoid having to reschedule, please phone us on (08) 6285 0999 so we can arrange the right appointment for you.

Fees and billing

The Village is a private-billing GP practice. Fees apply to all consultations, and we do not routinely bulk bill, either Medicare or DVA. There is no bulk billing on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays.

  • Fees are charged by the time booked, in the same 15- or 20-minute blocks as our appointments. If your appointment runs longer than booked, we charge for the time used.
  • Standard fees apply Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm. Fees are 50% higher on weekdays outside those hours and all day Saturday, and double on Sundays and public holidays.
  • A separate fee applies for any service done in our treatment and procedure rooms.
  • We offer a $10 discount for children under 16, adults over 65 and concession card holders.

See our full fees, and read why we charge fees.

Cancellations and missed appointments

If you can’t make your appointment, please let us know as early as you can, so we can offer the time to someone else.

If you cancel with less than 2 hours’ notice, or don’t attend, we charge the full fee for the appointment time you booked. Out-of-hours, weekend and public holiday appointments are charged at those rates. We can’t book further appointments until this fee is paid.

Schedule 8, opioid and benzodiazepine medicines

None of our doctors will prescribe Schedule 8, opioid or benzodiazepine medicines to patients they have not personally cared for in the past. Please don’t book a first appointment expecting these to be prescribed.

Parking and access

There is parking right outside our front door, including an ACROD bay, with easy access ramps and level entry doorways. If you have any access or communication needs, or need an interpreter, please tell us when you book.
