A shelter on the hillside
In the Scottish hills, a bothy is a small stone shelter, usually miles from the nearest road. Its door is left unlocked, and anyone passing can step in out of the wind and rain, warm up, rest, and share the fire with whoever else has found their way there. Nobody asks where you’ve come from. You just come in from the cold.
That is the feeling we wanted for our coffee shop, so we named it after one.
Your drink is on us
The Bothy sits right inside The Village Medical Practice. We employ our own skilled baristas, which is unusual for a GP practice, and every patient is offered a complimentary drink on arrival. Take it through to the lounge, sink into a sofa by the fire, and settle in.
Everyone is welcome
You don’t need an appointment to visit The Bothy. It is open to the public too, so neighbours, shoppers from across the road and anyone else in need of a good coffee are welcome to call in.
