Our Story

The Village could be described as having been started as a result of an irritation.  Why do things have to be like this?  Can’t things be… done different? 

During their annual pilgrimage to their accountant’s offices, Dr Stuart and Dr Ellie were discussing their frustrations with the way GP practices worked, and Dr Stuart in his inimitably, irritated style, said more out of frustration than serious intent: “We should just open our own damned practice” (Other words may have been used. We can't confirm or deny. The Scottish vernacular is a rich and colourful one.)

To both of their surprise, his exclamation was met with silence.  An interesting, uncomfortable silence.  The silence was broken, but the seed had been planted.

Just a few days later, they drove past our now-home, and when they saw it was available, history was made.

The problem then was assembling a crack team of cracking (perhaps cracked) people to fill the building with the love and joy and care and passion that it is today. The kind of people who care for patients the way Dr Stuart and Dr Ellie do.

Our logo was designed by a lovely Ukrainian woman called Mary, who living in the depths of despair, took our concept art and transformed it into the beautiful logo we have today. It represents a Scottish croft, a building to house travelers and protect them from the storm. They can be found littering the highlands and lowlands of Scotland; an ancient and historic remnant now somewhat forgotten and bypassed. The leaves on the roof represent the many colours and creeds, the clans and communities we exist to serve.

And it proudly runs across all of our businesses; from the Coffee Shop and the Croft Store; the Medical Practice and Skin Studio. Its our iconic and immediately recognisable brand, and it was made by someone who so desperately needed that shelter from the storm.

And so here we are, going strong and building on our foundations, earnestly working every day to make The Village Medical Practice a dream-turned-reality, helping our community and having a little fun along the way.
